July 7

Friday evening just approaching dusk about 850-9 o'clock.  The martins are all gathering chirping singing. It's a loud active filled night. Then all of a sudden as the sunlight was still shining A Cooper's hawk made an appearance and all the birds took off Into the sky in a defense formation

Once the initial threat had subsided these  birds remained aloft soaring in loose flocks and slowly return to the colony and tucked themselves in for the night. The hawk sighting was the end of the evening for the Martin's and the darkness is falling fast it's about 9:15.
